Good afternoon Husky families. We hope you and your family are safe and healthy during these difficult times. We look forward to teachers reconnecting with our students over the next few days. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out early next week via email as part of the next phase of learning.

Furthermore, our mental health lead and mental health and addiction nurses have been and will continue to reach out to connect with students who currently have a support plan. Stay safe and take care of each other.

Good afternoon Hillcrest families,

Premier Ford announced this afternoon that schools would remain closed until May 4th for students.

Here is the link to the news release -

I hope to have more information tomorrow on what the next phase of the Learn at Home program is and looks like for Hillcrest (and Bluewater) students.  While students will not yet be in schools, we are happy that soon educators and students will be able to reconnect.   I have many questions on how this next phase will work for students, as I’m sure you do.  We hope to soon get answers for you and for your child(ren).

The staff at Hillcrest miss all of you very much.  We hope you are healthy, safe and enjoying this time at home with family.

Please continue to send positive messages to me so that I can post them on our Facebook page.  There are so many positive stories coming out of an unfortunate situation, and so many important members of our community who are helping all of us.

As always feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Good afternoon Hillcrest families.  The snow is slowly going away.  Hopefully when we return to school the grass is growing and the snow and mud are gone.

This is a stressful time for many of you.  We are fortunate to live in such a great community.  As a small thank you to our community supports/members please have your kids draw or write a thank you note to someone who they appreciate during this difficult time.  For example, our first responders, nurses, doctors, pharmacists, grocery store workers, those who keep our water running and lights on, and so on...You can email them to me and I will put one on each day on our Husky Facebook page.

Please see this link for contact information for various community food programs in Grey and Bruce.  If you are in need of food or know someone who is, please reach out to these supports:

If you are wondering about pizza days, milk, field trips and any other items we are mindful that we have and will be missing some of these.  We will make plans to reimburse $, or ensure that we make-up what we miss.  When we hear what the next steps are from the Ministry we will have a better idea of next steps.

Unfortunately I don't have any updates at this time on when the school will re-open.  We hope to hear soon what the next step will be.  I know the Ministry and Board are working hard to plan and navigate during this difficult time.

Continue to use the Learn at Home resources.  Spend time playing games, cards, going for walks (with distancing in mind of course), reading, writing, doing arts and crafts, and so on.  Try to stay positive during this difficult time.

We hope everyone is home and safe during this difficult time.

The school underwent a 'deep clean' last week and will be empty for the next two weeks.  It is strange for all of us to not be returning to school following the break, but I think we can all agree that these steps need to be taken to ensure the safety of all involved.  We expect to get updates to you as they come to us.  Any updates from the Bluewater board will be posted on the board website.

Also, the Ministry of Education has posted some information regarding a Learn at Home program they have begun to implement.  This can be found at

Please continue to adhere to the guidelines set out by Public Health and the Government so that we can get protect ourselves, family and community.
